Help Wellington Prove his Innocence

Donation protected
Wellington Antonio Rosa is 42 years of age and has already served 21 years on a double life sentence. At  age 20, he falsely claimed to have committed a double murder under extreme psychological pressure by detectives. Detectives led him to believe that he was being framed by individuals who law enforcement allegedly knew were responsible. Detectives also motivated him to provide testimony in order for them to protect his family from the alleged perpetrators. Moreover, detectives told Wellington that his cooperation would result in a more lenient sentence. Yet of four codefendants, two are already out and another will max out his sentence in a couple of years. Wellington received the harshest sentence although he was acquitted by jury of being the shooter. Wellington is sentenced to die behind those fences for two murders he did not commit.

Public attention needs to be brought to the prevalence of wrongful convictions in the criminal justice system. Sadly miscarriages of justice have been happening for decades where law enforcement, prosecutors, attorneys, etc have violated their oaths and the law to win cases where defendants have been innocent. Innocent men and women have been serving time for crimes  they did not commit  and later exonerated from these crimes that they were convicted for. The Central Park 5 is a prime example of innocent people being wrongfully convicted and later exonerated. After two trials, the five teenagers were found guilty of offences including attempted murder, rape, assault and robbery, and were convicted to six to 13 years in prison for a crime they DID NOT COMMIT!

Please help Wellington Rosa raise money to hire an investigator and an "effective" lawyer this time as he works on exonerating himself since the system has failed him in many ways and times. Imagine spending over 20 years in the prison system for a crime you did not commit? It is long overdue that justice be served for Wellington and his family.  The jury acquitted him of being  the person who committed the crime and despite evidence  of his whereabouts at the time the crime occurred, witnesses and an alibi he was convicted. Sadly, Wellington was not properly represented by his attorney at the time. He had ineffective counsel and his lawyer took advantage of a family that was desperate to help their son prove his innocence. Wellington and his family trusted that the person they were hiring to help knew what he was doing and had his client's best interest in mind.

Wellington is like hundreds and thousands of other people that are currently serving sentences for crimes that they did not commit. In February 2020, a total of 2,551 exonerations are mentioned in the National Registry of Exonerations. The total years of these exonerated people spent in jails adds up to 22,540 years.   Wellington has never accepted the fact that he would be there forever and has stayed hopeful that one day justice will come for him. While incarcerated Wellington has been an upstanding prisoner,  has worked in the legal department helping fellow prisoners file petitions regarding their cases,  has also worked with the administration department, and had been selected to enroll in a college program offered at the prison  by Stetson University.  By hiring an investigator and lawyer he can work on reuniting with these past witnesses and alibis to build his case with a new lawyer to prove his innocence once and for all. So as he fights this battle for his freedom that comes with a financial burden. How can one afford a lawyer and investigator while being incarcerated? Should he concede to the thought that it is hopeless and shall remain in prison and give up or rely on the help of family and friends that believe in him to do anything and everything for his FREEDOM.

Reform in the justice system needs to happen to stop the decades of injustice by law enforcement and the judicial system. It is time for Wellington to be freed and exonerated of the charges he was accused of.  Please help Wellington raise the money needed so he can prove his innocence. No one can give him the past twenty years back but we can all help to give him the future twenty years! Anything helps!! Please donate if you can and PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE SHARE his fundraiser with others.  Thank you
