Stop. More than it ever has before, animosity needs to stop. Within the past months, the international community has seen peaks of systemic healthcare frailties. It is even more sickening to see politics prioritized, to see individual worth monetized, to see lives trivialized. Life never has been disposable, so why are those put in authority to "protect and to serve" threatening the lives of the innocent? It's repulsive.
And yet many fail to conceive this, mistakenly labeling a horrifying determinant of worth on value on an individual. Authoritative abuse should be attributed to individuals, their lack of judgment, their prejudice, their ignorance. It should not be attributed to the titles on which such individuals taint. Accountability needs to be held where it is due. With that being said, police departments must reevaluate the privileges they’ve given their workers. The recent behaviors of the nation are ones of raw repulsiveness, pure ignorance, inexplicable horror.
The demand for justice is unparalleled, and the police must act with empathy, with scrutiny to end this violence. Put down the guns, put down the batons, put down the barriers. This is not a fight between civilians and police. It is not a fight between the people and the authority. It is not a fight between crime and law. It is a call to reality. It is a fight for humanity, one that everyone should be fighting alongside each other. It's only through unified efforts where collaboration can even remotely push for change. We should not need to implore this nation for human decency.
