The Stop the Behemoth team is raising funds to help support a grassroots campaign of folks from Lancaster, MA who are against the Goodridge Brook Estates Chapter 40B project that will be devastating to the town if this is built. We expect to have legal costs and other expenses to help make citizens of Lancaster MA aware of this terrible project. Please consider donating so the Stop the Behemoth team has the resources needed to be successful. Any extra funds that are not needed will be donated to the Lancaster Land Trust.
The Goodridge Brook Estates development is more than 45 acres of high density housing planned for a parcel of land along Sterling Road. This project's scale is unprecedented for Lancaster and will have an over-reaching impact on town resources and infrastructure, specifically related to water, sewer, and roads. Given this a Chapter 40B project, it will be a very difficult task to block this behemoth from being permitted by the local Lancaster Zoning Board of Appeals. Thus we anticipate having legal costs by consulting with a lawyer who specializes in Chapter 40B projects, we expect to have costs hiring independent specialists, and the list goes on for things that will be required to take on this monumental task.
We have a forum based website at http://stopthebehemoth.org
that will be a central place for information gathered and to keep people informed of upcoming meetings and events of importance related to this. We are also reaching out on the Lancaster Mass Facebook group and the Lancaster Citizens Against Overdevelopment Facebook group. We are using GoFundMe here to raise funds to support the Stop the Behemoth team and pay for the significant costs that will undoubtedly be associated with successfully blocking this terrible disaster that will ruin the town of Lancaster, MA.
