Stop Sterigenics & Citizens 4 Clean Air NFP

 Stop Sterigenics is asking for your support to continue our advocacy, prepare for litigation and bringing our community’s voice to Springfield and DC. Sterigenics has been polluting our community with ethylene oxide since the mid-1980s. This product is a Group 1 carcinogen and mutagen – it is linked to numerous cancers, including breast cancer and lymphomas.  It mutates genes, affects development in the womb, and can cause miscarriage. This company does not belong nestled into our community, surrounded by schools, playgrounds, homes, and businesses. 
Sterigenics had a seal order placed on its use of ethylene oxide on February 15th, but as of September 6, 2019, the seal order has been lifted. In an additional blow to our community, on Friday night of September 20, 2019, Illinois EPA granted Sterigenics a permit to upgrade its facility with unproven technology based on a flawed analysis, in order to resume operations and once again put our entire community at risk.
Ethylene oxide emissions are poisoning communities throughout the United States. Stop Sterigenics is fighting against the emission of this toxin at all levels, municipal, state and federal.  We won’t stop until our communities are safe. Please support us in this fight.
