Hello citizens of Eagle, CO:
Here is an update on the petition for referendum for Hockett Gulch. As many of you may or may not know, the Town Board passed this development project on September 10th on a project that will increase our population by 20%.
We started submitting this petition to the Town on September 20th and every time the Town and it's lawyers have come up with an error to deny it. After 4 submissions and the Town always coming back with a new error, it was pretty obvious that they would do anything they could to stop us. So this weekend we went ahead and collected the signatures we needed (237 required, we got 304, thanks everyone!!!!). It was 3 days of knocking on doors, sending texts, opening our door for people to stop by and sign.... it's been pretty amazing to see how our townsfolk came together for something we all believe in.
On Monday (deadline), we submitted all the signatures with the petition in hopes that the Town will come to its senses and approve. We did hire a lawyer for this step since we think that otherwise we have no chance and they will keep treating us like kids.
So we need your help! Anything will help towards legal fees ( I know it sucks we had to come to this). If you feel strongly about stopping this, this is our last chance! This money will help us pay for the lawyer in this final submission. If the Town decides to take this to court, we will have to reassess our resources and see if it's even possible. But for now, we still have a chance of taking it to a referendum to let the citizens decide! Wouldn't that be nice?
