Stop Hackney's Undemocratic Road Closures!

We citizens of Hackney totally oppose the draconian road closures being implemented throughout our neighbourhoods by the London Borough of Hackney. They are creating havoc and increasing the volume of traffic almost doubling and in some cases trebling journey times.
Hackney council have not had the respect to engage with local residents and ask their opinion, they have railroaded these measures, using Covid 19 as a smoke screen, not consulted or allowed residents to be involved in the process. This is UNDEMOCRATIC and completely unacceptable. We are citizens, not children and councillors and officials do not have the right to dictate our personal choices such as how we get around and manage our day-to-day lives.
These road closure are frankly horrendous and have shown up how out of touch and contemptuous our elected officials are of us, the people who elect them. They need to listen and if they do not listen then they need to get out of the way. We elect them to represent our views and our needs. They are not there to tell us how to behave and to live our lives.
Hackney council love to talk about 'community' but these ludicrous road closures are destroying the fabric of our neighbourhoods, isolating those who rely on friends or relatives with cars, such as our elder parents and grandparents, making life more difficult for families and working people. These closures are putting businesses at risk. Communities cannot exist without shops, services, deliveries and so on.
We are fundraising to enable us to urgently print banners, posters and flyers to help get the word out, for demos and campaigns; to also allow us to explore legal avenues into fighting against these road closures. Of course, taking legal action can be extremely costly so we need all the help and support we can get . We are asking members to donate £5 (minimum donation gofundme allows) or more to help us achieve our goal. THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
