The Stoll Family has a legacy of love and service to those around them. Angela has been a Registered Nurse for 18 years working in Pediatric Oncology. She loves her job and the privilege of caring for kids and families during some of the most difficult, trying, and intimate times of their lives. She has two incredible boys, Henry (8) and Hayden (5.) These boys are sweet, kind, and show generosity like their parents.
Angela was widowed in January 2020. Her husband Brian left a legacy of loving people well. He was great at it! He was a pastor and had an uncanny ability to find a connection with just about everyone he met. He was always authentic with people. As a Children’s Pastor he got to show God’s love to children and ministry staff every week!
Brian first got sick in 2016 and was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis. With many prayers and God’s will he made a remarkable recovery, until Thanksgiving of 2019, when Brian got sick again.
Angela explains, “The month of December is a blur with three hospitalizations during that month. We celebrated our youngest turning five in December. I turned forty and my husband celebrated his forty-fifth birthday in the hospital. Our church family stepped up and made Christmas happen for our family. Our church ‘elves,’ as we call them, got us a tree, presents for the boys, and presents for my husband and me. The outpouring of love and support was awe-inspiring and still brings me to tears to this day. Our church showed us what it feels like to be loved deeply. We were so grateful to get to spend Christmas together as a family out of the hospital.”
She continues,” January 2020, things got worse. As the days and weeks went on, things looked bleak. Despite this, we both had hope. Our hope was in God. We knew that God was in control of the situation, which gave us a peace; a peace that I have never known before. I did not like where things were heading, however, I knew that God does not make mistakes. He had a plan. My husband was admitted for the last time in January. He missed our oldest son turn eight years old because he was in the hospital. He was discharged home after sixteen days in the hospital, on hospice and four days later he died. During these two months, I was at my husband’s side. I basically lived at the hospital with my husband. Time is such a weird thing. It passes so slowly that you feel all the heartache and yet, at the same time, it passes so quickly. It is hard to believe that my husband has been dead for 11 months.”
Since Brian’s passing, 2020 has certainly kept The Stoll’s on their toes! Angela and the boys survived crisis learning in the spring. She has been working full time during the pandemic as an essential front-line worker. They have had to watch friends evacuate their homes during the wildfires and even housed a family of five, along with their cat and dog, for three days! This fall she embarked on the journey of homeschooling her boys. Navigating being a single parent along with the feelings of success and failure. Angela is most thankful for the grace of a loving God and the grace of family and friends.
Angela and her boys need our help! The house is literally sinking! It needs very costly foundation repairs. There is a part of the dining room that is obviously sloping, and it is getting worse. This is pulling her fireplace away from the wall. She is concerned her house “may” collapse if the repairs are not completed soon. Providing a safe home for her boys to grow up in is a priority!
Will you please join us in raising the funds for her repairs? Every amount gets us one step closer to giving Angela the peace of mind she needs after a year of tragedy.
