Stockton Safe Space Initiative

Donation protected

The Safe Space Initiative was first proposed by Brittany Bobian in hopes of resolving the overwhelming homelessness issue in Stockton. Being homeless herself, Brittany has seen the struggles that this can cause a person, a couple, or a family.

In Stockton, many homeless shelters have such high barriers to entry that it can feel like there's no hope. But we have a solution.

The Safe Space Initiative proposes a 30,000 square foot property made up of accessibility resources, shelter space, and resident facilities in Mormon Slough. According to the floor plan presented by Ms. Bobian, the shelter could house up to 300 people.

The facilities will include:

A community garden to raise flora and produce.

Communal Kitchen and Pantry.

Indoor beds and tiny houses for residents and families in need.

Resident Resources like internet access, bathrooms and showers, and an RV parking area

And much much more!!

With the city not responding to the proposal in over a year, we find it's time to take the Safe Space Initiative to the public sector, and make it a community project.  There is nothing City Hall can do for us, that we cannot do together.

Let's make Stockton a happier place to live.
