Stitches of Love for the Community

Hi, I am Jeanne Johansen, and I am raising funds for Sandra VanVorst's free program, "Stitches of Love for the Community."
This program became a reality in 2022 after two years of planning. "Stitches of Love for the Community" became a program under the Fort Pierce Art Club, Inc.
May 26 will see the completion of the 2nd graduation of students who now know how to sew. In addition to learning these skills, the students also created a project for those in need. This class made super hero caps for children in hospitals or other situations where they need to feel super and happy.
Would you please consider helping to fund this continuing program.
The March class made tote bags for foster children and book pillows for children in hospitals and homeless with books provided by Children's Services of St. Lucie County.

Sandra VanVorst dream is expanding. We are now looking at summer courses and including parent/child for free. We hope to also bring back the original beginners and advance to cloth making and alterations.
The program has been built on donations from the public and personal funds from Sandi and other community members. The storage of donations and the need to purchase disposable items - thread, fabric, interfacing has grown. Sandi is providing all the refreshments for the course for free. Other volunteer teachers are supplying the super hero embroidery for the caps.
Summer daytime and evening 8-week courses will be announced shortly. Volunteers are loved and need. Thank you!
