TEAM STEVEN -Helping Steven Rodriguez

STEVEN'S STORY - My nephew Steven is 19 and was diagnosed with a rare brain tumor (ATRT) in May 2013. He's one of 30 known adult cases world-wide. Steven had an emergency craniotomy in mid-May. Because of the rarity of the tumor there are not many places that have experience in treating it. Steven's family is self-employed with limited resources. They are caring for him as best they can, and his 2 brothers with the help of family, friends and neighbors but will have tremendous out of pocket expenses to give Steven the care he desperately needs. He begins extensive chemotherapy, radiation and stem cell replacement mid-June 2013 which will continue for 8-9 months. He will be hospitalized most all of that time. Any donation, no matter how small, would be immensely appreciated. We had set an initial goal of $25K but realized that with the amount of time both parents are having to take off of work and the length of time Steven will be hospitalized (nearly a year) and care and expenses that go along with that, we had to change the goal to be a more realistic number. Regardless, every bit will help! Thank you so much! To view a video Steven and his friend Kit made documenting his journey please click here

UPDATE - It is with great sadness and a heavy empty heart that I must share with you that Steven Howard Rodriguez passed on October 17, 2013 surrounded by more than 30 close family and friends at UCSF Benioff's Children's Hospital after fighting the fight so hard each and every day to beat this awful cancer. He was laid to rest on Sunday Nov 3, 2013 in his hometown of Mill Valley, CA with an amazing turnout of family, friends and the community .... over 300 people. This website continues to accept donations on behalf of the family who are not only left without their wonderful loving and amazing son, but now facing daily reminders of that through exorbitant medical bills related to his care. Any excess funds will be donated to one of Steven's favorite charities:

1. The Tamalpais High School CTE Program (http://ctetam.org/) in Mill Valley, CA where he went to high school and loved to do drama and later went to college to pursue his dream of acting. A memorial fund is currently being set up

2. The Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure (http://abc2.org/) Foundation in memory of Steven Rodriguez. Together we will find a cure! It's what Steven wanted. To view a video a Steven made before he passed wanting a cure to be found and documenting his journey click ---> here

The family would like to thank everyone for their generosity, prayers, letters, emails and kindness! Truly amazing and something they will be forever grateful for.
