My daughter, Rachel Watson Fullagar, is mourning the tragic and untimely death of her loving husband, Steven Fullagar, less than four months after their wedding. The young couple had no insurance and limited savings, and medical bills are rapidly mounting from Steven's last few days in the hospital.
Our goal for this fund is to help Rachel pay Steven's medical expenses so that she is able to focus on healing emotionally without the encumbrance of huge medical debts.
(UPDATE: Steven's medical bills (those we've already received) had reached $61,000, but two hospitals have now agreed to discount their charges, so the $25,000 goal should cover almost all of the remaining medical debt. We hated to ask for help, but we truly appreciate your assistance.)
We'd like to thank everyone for your kind words, condolences, and prayers of support for Rachel and Steven.
Here's a note from Rachel:
"Honestly, I am still not sure that this is all real. My heart keeps thinking that my sweet husband will walk through the door with a big smile and his blue eyes shining.
"As many of you know, Steven and I were married 'in a fever.' I guess they are right when they say 'when you know, you know.' I saw my entire life building in those blue eyes of his: our future babies, our first home, maybe one day opening our own restaurant (Steven said he would bankrupt it by eating all the food I cooked, lol).
"I would like to thank you for all of your prayers and sweet messages while Steven was in the hospital, and even after his passing. I know that Steven heard them all. Those that know me, know that I have always been stubborn, and asking for help is the last thing I expected to do, but as the bills have already started to come in, I realize that I cannot cover these expenses alone. I love you all."
