We are brother and sister Steven Hook &amp; Stephanie Jones and we are embarking on an exciting sibling adventure together this year. In the process, we are looking to help raise £100,000 for the wonderful UK charity Action for Children along with our fellow climbers on the Dell Technologies team. OUR STORY In the last few years, we have both entered our 40s and Stephanie was looking for an adventure to take on, inspired in part by Steven’s success in the 2017 London Marathon. The idea of doing something memorable in tribute to both of our parents, was beginning to float around in our heads. We lost our Mum 20 years ago last year, when she fell down the stairs at home. She was pretty much the age that we are now. Too young. As for our Dad, well, he has always been a source of great wisdom; he has been with us through the hard times as well as the happy times, giving us a glimpse of the joy that our Mum would have felt had she lived long enough to meet her 6 grandchildren. In January 2018, Steven’s work at Dell Technologies led us to the opportunity to fulfil that dream by climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in September 2018. With the support and encouragement of our wonderful partners, Jayne &amp; Julian, we have decided to take up the challenge. If you know us, you will know that family means everything to us. We hold it in very high regard. From our own partners and children; our parents and siblings, right through to our 36 first cousins! We consider ourselves to have been incredibly lucky when we were growing up. Despite our parents coming from humble beginnings, they provided us both with a loving, stable home life where there was always food on the table and warmth in the house. Our parents taught us to believe in ourselves; to value ourselves and to love ourselves. In doing so, they gave us a wonderful start in life for which we will be forever grateful. Some children, however, are not quite as fortunate as us... OUR CHARITY Action for Children is the perfect charity for us to climb in aid of. They work tirelessly to help disadvantaged children and young people in the UK. They help through fostering and adopting; by intervening early to stop neglect and abuse. They help make life better for children with disabilities. They influence policy and advocate for change. Their 7000 staff and volunteers operate 600 services, improving the lives of 370,000 children, teenagers, parents and carers every year. Your kind donations will go directly to help them carry on this extraordinary work. Dell Technologies has partnered up with Action Challenge and we are aiming to contribute £5000 towards their target amount of £100,000 for Action for Children. By sponsoring us through this page, Dell will match whatever money we raise here. So if we hit our target of £5000, Action for Children will receive £10,000 from our collection! Amazing!
