Steve Trujillo Family Relief Fund

In early February our family was devastated when Steve suffered a heart attack, an Aortic Dissection, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm and several Mini-Strokes in a matter of a couple of days.

Due to the quick actions of his 10 year old daughter Angie, medical help arrived on the scene quickly to transfer him to a nearby hospital. Within minutes of his arrival he was rushed into an emergency nine-hour surgery. At this time doctors warned our family that he had a 10% survival rate and should he somehow survive, he would be facing possible paralysis of his legs, possible severe brain damage and other organ failures.

This was heartbreaking and devastating for our entire family to see him so vulnerable, as Steve has always been such a strong person mentally and physically. He has created a loving blended family with Danielle, cares for our elderly Mom with her own medical conditions, and has always worked in construction using his physical strength to make a living and support his family.

But in spite of all the bleak warnings from his doctors, Steve fought to beat the odds and miraculously survived the surgery on February 5, 2018.  He has undergone four surgeries and had a pacemaker implanted spending a total of 34 days in the hospital, 18 days in ICU, 8 days on full life support, and is now finally in a live in rehabilitation center taking steps to recovery with extensive Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy daily.

He is currently re-learning to do many every day activities we all take for granted. His strong will to get his life back and his stubborn streak have kept him working hard to recover.

Steve has beaten the odds so far, and we expect him to continue to progress. But medical expenses have been overwhelming. As a family we continue to work together to keep him moving forward in his recovery as these first few months are vital in how much he does recover. Our goal is to see him back to his strong, vibrant self as soon as possible.

So many of you have reached out asking how you can help, outside of your prayers.

Steve's road to recovery ahead is long and very expensive. Your kindness and generosity in supporting Steve with whatever you can give to help relieve the financial burden of the medical bills incurred and to continue his rehabilitation for the best possible recovery would be truly appreciated beyond words by our family.
