Steve Sotelo's Emergency Medical Expenses

Donation protected
On Saturday morning, December 7th, my father started getting symptoms for what we all thought was a UTI. As the day progressed he grew increasingly ill. While we were having dinner at a restaurant, he began to sweat and his face started to turn purple. We left there in a hurry to pick up some more antibiotics for him, and on the way home, he felt a sharp pain causing him to lose control of his bladder and urinated nothing but blood. His fever grew quickly and the chills were so bad that his teeth wouldn’t stop chattering against each other. He was given several tests and antibiotics. The doctor suggested he stay overnight so that he could receive more of the antibiotics. Unfortunately, my father’s insurance didn’t pick up any of the costs for the ER visit. He was released despite the doctor’s recommendation, solely because he was afraid his insurance wouldn’t cover any of it. All of that night he struggled with the same issue but was reluctant to go back to the hospital. This is the same man who has had surgeries with minimal anesthesia just to save money. The next morning he received an urgent call about his test results. He was ordered to return to the hospital to be admitted for a couple of days. The bladder infection spread to his blood and was told it wasn’t something his health could afford for him not to do. My father gives and gives, and never complains. He’s taken on so much onto his plate with very little help from anyone else. He supports not only his own family, but his late brother’s family. He helps people from his hometown in Mexico and just about anyone he surrounds himself with. This man deserves the world, but as of now, all we’re asking for is some help to cover some of the medical expenses. Seeing him reject medical treatment because he was afraid he couldn’t afford it was painful. He didn’t ask for this help, and he never expects any. It seems like any time things are starting to get a little better for him, he gets kicked back down by something else. Thank you all in advance for any donations and or help with sharing this. Truly, the man is so deserving of it and more.
