Steve Pringle Family Cancer Fund

Update:
Dear friends,

At the request of Caryn Pringle, we  will he ending the  Steve Pringle Family Cancer Fund GoFundMe campaign at midnight tonight.

When this campaign was started October 7, 2019, we had no idea what the outcome of the November 24th “Bluesmania” benefit for Steve and his family would be.

Due to the success of that benefit, we have decided to end this campaign before reaching our intended goal.
Thank you to all who contributed; it was a comfort to Steve during his last days.

Below is a message from Caryn:

Steve and I had 2 days where we would lay in the bed propped up on pillows and I would read comments from people on facebook and from donors on the GoFundMe account.  It made him so happy.  He would reminisce when I read names and tell me how he knew each person, where they had met, a remembrance of time spent together.  He was so very touched and buoyed by the heartfelt words and donations.  I can say with all sincerity that he loved each one of you, and that you mattered a great deal to him.

He fully intended to see Bluesmania.  He would have loved it and cried at the love and talent and awe-inspiring spirit of the night.  It was an Epic night.  Heartfelt thanks to all involved.  He knew that you gave up time from your lives to make this happen.

Your generous contributions have allowed our family to pay off medical bills and cover bills from the last 6 months when Steve couldn’t work.  Our 2 income family is now a 1 income family; your generosity has allowed us time and space to figure out a new normal without sliding into debt.  It’s changed our lives and given us a softer present and future.  Many are not so lucky.

We feel blessed beyond compare to have so much love, support, and music surrounding us.  Thank you.  From the deepest places in our hearts.  Thank you.

In Steve’s words:  Be good.  Dream Well.

In gratitude,

Caryn, Trey, Cooper, Morgan, and Buddy Guy:  the amazing BluesDog

Update:
Dear friends,

We are sad to share that our friend Steve Pringle passed away Sunday, November 3rd. He was surrounded by friends and family in the comfort of his own home.

We look forward to seeing you all at BluesMania: A Benefit for Steve Pringle on Nov. 24 at the Roseland Theater as we celebrate Steve’s life, love and laughter.

Be good humans,
#pdx4pringle

Please continue to share the GoFundMe for Steve’s family.

Please support a Portland treasure, Steve Pringle and his family, who was recently diagnosed with Solitary Fibrous Sarcoma, stage 4; a rare and incurable cancer.

Steve has more than 25 years’ experience on the airwaves of Portland radio, including time with KKJZ and mornings and middays on KINK.FM. His passion for blues music led to his hosting KMHD/OPB’s Friday Freeway Blues and taking over for his mentor Bob “The Big BA” Ancheta on KINK.FM’s Sunday Night Blues after Ancheta’s retirement in 2011. In 2017, Pringle took his blues show to KGON where it remained on air for two years.

A longtime, steadfast supporter of the local blues scene, Pringle’s blues programs highlighted numerous Portland-area blues bands. In 2018, Steve was honored with a Muddy Award from the Cascade Blues Association for his work on behalf of the local blues community.  That work has often included volunteering as M.C. at benefits for sick musicians.

Steve is currently unable to work and undergoing chemo treatments to treat his own aggressive cancer, leaving his wife, Caryn to support him and their two children who reside with them.  Please help out Steve and his family if you can.

An All Star benefit "Bluesmania" is planned for Steve Sunday, November 24th at the Roseland Theater in Portland, Oregon.  We hope you can show your support by attending this very special event.
