Steve Meng's final expenses

My sweetie-pie, Steve Meng, left us December 18th after a hard and lengthy battle with diabetes. Steve was known as a very kind and generous man. He always made you feel as if you were special. If you needed anything he would move mountains to make things work out for you, to the best of his ability.
His decision to enter into hospice this past October was the only solution he could come up with, after years of battling pain and a failing body. He was just tired. So tired. He didn't want to have a memorial service, but after his death he wanted to be cremated and sprinkled into the Pacific Ocean.
He didn't want to leave me with expenses, but with years of expensive medical treatments and minimal insurance coverage, that's just what's happened. His final arrangements, along with his most recent hospital bills are more than I have the ability to pay. We have no real assets after selling our house two years ago. My wonderful mother invited us to live with her to save on expenses. Last year she was diagnosed with cancer, from which she passed away in late October of this year. Her loss is still very fresh, and now my sweet Steve...
I am now trying to make ends meet with just my small income alone. There are medical bills to pay, the mortuary bill is due now, the mortgage on my mom's house, and a couple of loans we took out to pay off Steve's hospital bills. Sheesh... we had just paid the hospital bill when he had a couple of really bad episodes for which he had to be hospitlized again. **Sigh** 
So... here I am... asking for your help. Many of my friends have asked if there were anything they could do for me. This is the help I need now.
