Steve Coots' Bucket List

Steve Coots is a 20+ year EMT with EMS in Bowling Green, KY and has served his community as a volunteer firefighter for 30 years. Several days ago his family, friends, co-workers and everyone that is a member of our emergency services community was hit with the news that he has been given six months to live. What started as a cancer that claimed a large part of his tongue through surgery has continued to grow and spread.
Steve is one of those people that is always in a good mood and that everyone wants to work with. He is devoted to God and spends countless hours helping his church.
For several years it has been on Steve's bucket list to rebuild a 1971 VW Super Beetle that he has had sitting by his garage, giving it an emergency services theme to promote our profession while still having the enjoyment of seeing the project through and driving one of his favorite vehicles.
Our goal is to make sure that dream comes to pass. Steve is expecting a grandchild this summer and we want him either in the driver's seat of his dream care or in the passenger seat holding his new grandbaby! We are already beating the bushes to make arrangements for this time-dependent project- searching for people with the mechanical expertise to help, finding parts, etc while being sure to be as conscientious with the money raised as possible. Any funds collected that we can save on the project will go directly to Steve and his family to offset their medical expenses, so once we hit this goal we won't stop collecting!
Once we get started we will setup a Facebook page to keep you informed of the project's progress (and Steve's!).
