<div>Op woensdag 27 augustus 2025, hebben wij onverwacht afscheid moeten nemen van onze trouwe metgezel én familielid: paard ‘Artiest’. Hij was niet zomaar een paard, maar onze steun en toeverlaat tijdens talloze schuttersactiviteiten. Voor velen in Limburg een bekend gezicht — vooral als hij als eerste paard danste bij de opening van het Oud Limburgs Schuttersfeest (OLS).

<div>Artiest was jarenlang hét symbool van traditie en trots voor onze familie én de schutterswereld. Hij liep altijd voorop in de stoet, met zijn rustige maar trotse uitstraling, en maakte zo een onvergetelijke indruk. Voor Peet (mam) was haar verlies extra verdrietig: Artiest was ook een tastbare herinnering aan haar vader Gijs Gerris (opa), die deze traditie maar liefst 50 jaar lang droeg — tot hij in 2014 het stokje overdroeg aan Peet Gerris, mijn moeder.

<div>Nu Artiest er niet meer is, dreigt iets waardevols verloren te gaan.

<div>Maar wij willen deze betekenisvolle familietraditie niet laten stoppen. We zijn op zoek naar een nieuw paard dat volgend jaar weer met trotse stappen met ons mee kan lopen bij het OLS en andere activiteiten.

<div>Daarom start ik deze crowdfunding — om Peet (mijn moeder) financieel te ondersteunen bij de aanschaf én training van een waardige opvolger van Artiest.

<div>Deze traditie verdient voortzetting — niet alleen voor onze familie, maar voor iedereen in Limburg die dit bijzondere erfgoed koestert. Elke bijdrage, hoe klein ook, helpt ons een stap dichter bij dit doel.
