Growing up, I did not dream the way most girls do when it came to having a family. While I did hope for the companionship of a husband, I was not sure I wanted to have children. Fast forward to now, and I am proud to say I am living a great life. I have a wonderful support system full of the greatest friends and family, and I recently started to pursue a career in real estate. I did not think I could ever ask for more—that is, until I was blessed with becoming an aunt nearly four years ago. Being an aunt has not only changed me as a person, but it has also shown me that motherhood is one of the most cherished experiences a woman can have in her life. Thus, having a family has become much more important to me.
As a single woman quickly approaching the age of 37, I began to explore the concept of egg preservation, which I found to be empowering and liberating. I do not want to rush into a relationship just to quiet the ticking of my biological clock. For this reason, along with risk factors outlined by my specialist, I have made the decision to move forward with this procedure. Doing so will allow me the opportunity to have a family of my own when the time is right. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover the cost to do so, which is $10,000-$15,000, and I am not able to cover the entire cost on my own. Therefore, I ask that you help me to reach this goal.
Through your donations, my hope is to raise enough money to have the procedure and preserve my eggs now while they are still healthy. Should I decide to never use my eggs, they will be given to another woman who is longing to have a baby of her own. In addition to helping me reach my own goal, I hope this will inspire other women to consider an option many in our society have made taboo. After all, we all have the ability to be strong on our own, but sometimes this life requires us to be stronger together.
