Stephen and Gloria Decater of Live Power Community Farm need our help!

Hello Dear Friends and Family,

As you well know, our beloved Gloria and Stephen Decater of Live Power Community Farm, in Covelo, California have been beacons of light and spirit for the biodynamic community for decades: feeding thousands, training hundreds of new farmers, and building and sharing so much love and spirit with us and our living Earth. Under Stephen and Gloria's tutelage, generations of school children have learned to love the land, turn the soil, and appreciate the work that farmers do to feed us all. In their time of need please let's reflect their bright light back to them in the form of donations to support their healing.

The Decaters are in need of financial support!

At the end of July 2018, Stephen was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, which is a cancer of the blood, that can eat away at bones, disable kidneys, and cause exhaustion. Fortunately, Stephen is in the early stages, feeling fine, and though a bit tired carries on with a few holes in the bones of his spine. Working half-days on the farm keeps Stephen connected to what he loves: his wife, their farm, and the beauty and bounty of life.

Though Myeloma, by Western Medical standards, is not curable, it is treatable using chemotherapy pills and shots. Right now, Stephen is working with an herbal protocol and anthroposophical remedies, hoping to avoid the chemo and how it might impact his body. Stephen and Gloria have been traveling back and forth to Santa Rosa and Ukiah for months now to reach the diagnosis and to research potential remedies. Their trips have or will be scheduled to San Francisco and San Diego for their UC Medical Centers as well as Marin for Traditional Chinese Medicine appointments.

As many of you know, Gloria also went through a major health crisis in 2016-2017 attributed to Lyme and/or auto-immune disorder. With such amazing gratitude, she is doing well now running the farm with Stephen. She is still in need of medical and bodywork support from a very amazing physical therapist and various herbs and supplements to recover some brain processes and to detox after so many radiation-based tests. Gloria knows that all the love and prayers that came her way helped her to get her life back, and is forever grateful.

With your very generous donations they can continue on this path of healing and wellness.

The last two years, they had to exhaust a significant part of their savings, as they were not able to run the farm in 2017 and had very little income. Now in 2018, Stephen has already incurred major expenses even with insurance including immediate care needed for his teeth. As you might imagine, many other costs are on the horizon for Stephen's treatment and healing, as well as recovering financially from the cost of Gloria’s health crisis and continued path in wellness.

Let's band together with our community to lift up Gloria and Stephen during these times so that they may continue to shine their bright light upon us all.
