My mother, Stephanie Sakr, was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in October 2017. For her initial treatment she opted for a non-conventional protocol, seeking the healthly and natural course. To help fund this option, a cook-out to raise money to defray her treatment cost was held in February 2018, enabling her to attned a natural medical facility in Alabama.
Unfortunately, between June 2018 and now, the tumor in her breast has grown significantly; causing her breast to look extremely swollen and engorged. This prompted my sister and I to immediately fly her to the U.S. for additional testing and screening to determine if the cancer has advanced and/or spread.
After consulting with three different doctors at a Florida hospital, we have been adcvised that she undergo chemotherapy immediately to reduce the tumor in her breast followed by a mastectomy then radiology.
Sadly, like so many other Bahamians my mother has no medical insurance, therefore all expenses have to be paid out of pocket. My sister and I are working with limited financial resources in this regard. We know that we need the help of family, friends and even strangers who understand our plight which is why we have started this go fund me account. As this is breast cancer awareness month, we are hoping that our mother, with your help will become a cancer survivor. We want to save and prolong our mother’s life, as she is only 58 years old.
With your assistance, we would like to provide her with the best treatment there is for her already advanced cancer. We only have our mother as our father died seven years ago from septic shock. We are therefore prepared to exhaust every avenue there is to ensure that our mother’s life is not prematurely ended by this dreadful disease.
We are appealing to anyone who is willing to help; no amount is too small and for those who cannot afford too, you’re prayers are greatly appreciated.
