STEP UP FOR STEVE
As some of you know, our friend and brother, Steve Edmunds, has had a very tough time lately due to a terrible accident that left his heel completely shattered.
Steve Edmunds is a musician, husband, and father of three living in Danville, VA. He has been a staple in the music scene for over forty years. Steve has performed thousands of shows, co-owned a music store, installed PA systems, written, produced and recorded on dozens of projects in VA, NC, and GA over the years. I personally owe a huge debt of gratitude to him for not only helping guide my career, but also my path in life. Anybody that knows Steve, knows he is a very unique and passionate individual, and those are some of his best traits in my opinion.
Steve had just ventured out with his new band as their keyboardist, and was looking forward to resuming his music career, and get his family back on a more solid financial footing. However, on the 6th of May, 2017, Steve fell and suffered a catastrophic injury to his foot, which required extensive reconstruction surgery on his shattered heel and ankle.
Instead of embarking on a much needed job touring with the band, Steve and his wife, Patty, now face thousands of dollars in rising medical costs which their insurance will not cover, not to mention that there is a high probability there will have to be an additional surgeries as well. These in turn have cut deeply into the family's ability to pay their other household bills (including their utilities, bank notes, and expenses to raise their granddaughter, Laila)
To top it all off, Steve is a 30 year survivor of diabetes and has to have insulin everyday. This disease makes his recovery and ensuing journey that much more difficult.
Steve and Patty are rapidly sinking into a financial hole that is becoming ever steeper to climb out of, but are reluctant to ask for help. This is where I’m stepping in to ask their friends and family to step up and extend a helping hand to this guy who cannot seem to catch a break. In my years in music, I have never felt more inclined to help out a fellow musician. This community we are a part of is known for stepping up to help those in need, especially one of our 40 year veterans.
To that end, I'm asking that you please help throw this family a lifeline with a donation towards Steve's medical expenses. Any amount helps and the Edmunds family would be eternally grateful. Please help, and STEP UP FOR STEVE!
