Help us dress-up the 8th grade!

My name is Kate Bucci and I work at a Title I school in South LA, Crown Preparatory Academy. I moved here two years ago from Wakefield, Rhode Island.
Many, if not all of my students, qualify for free and reduced lunch and deal with things that most 12 year olds should not have to think about- poverty, deportation, and sometimes even abuse. This does not take away from their hard working, positive attitudes.
A month ago, I took a trip home to Rhode Island. While there, I packed up a box of donated prom dresses as well as semi-formal dresses. Some my own, some from neighbors. On top of that, were handbags to go with the dresses as well as nail polish.
Around this, we organized an event for the 8th graders, to allow them to choose a dress for the upcoming 8th grade dance and culmination. For the boys, we were going to teach them how to tie their own ties, as well as making their own bowties.
The day I left, the box was shipped to me. Unfortunately, it never made it to me and was stolen from my doorstep before I could get home from school.
I am reaching out in hopes that we can get some support for these girls who were so excited to have dresses to pick from.
