Stem Cell Transplant for Cancer

Donation protected
Greetings!

My name is Michael Pratt and I live in Beaverton, Oregon. Five years ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma as well as HIV among several other medical issues. After almost passing away, my Oncologist came up with an amazing new Chemo treatment and saved my life.

This amazing life changing therapy was not without its side effects. I now have life long issues such as body wide Neuropathy, lung damage and several other issues that I have to deal with the rest of my life.

After 6 weeks of being in the hospital and 6 months of chemo, I went into remission.

At the time all of this happened, I was managing an adult foster home in Beaverton. My mother, Janice and I lived on site and while I was in the hospital my staff took care of her. She suffered a stroke back in 2008 and I have been her primary caregiver since then.

Over the years, she has suffered additional TIA’s (Strokes) and is now bed bound and unable to communicate verbally.

In June of 2017, I began to experience symptoms and it turned out that my cancer had returned. This is a rare happening and I was thrown into an aggressive chemo therapy as it was back to stage 3 at that time.

I ended up loosing my income and switching my insurance back to state assisted Medicare and Medicaid.

I am now back with my old Oncologist and cancer care team and we have just started another round of chemo therapy with the goal of having a Stem Cell Transplant at the end of the road. This expensive and intense procedure will have me in the hospital for at least three weeks.

As I am the primary caregiver for my mother, I will need to hire a caregiver to take care of her while I have this transplant. The goal of the transplant is to stop the cancer permanently. It’s a cure with a 50/50 chance of succeeding. My insurance does not cover all of the costs associated with everything and I will be responsible for several thousand dollars worth.

Hiring the caregiver to take care of my mother during this process will cost around $10,000 and is an amount that I just have no way to cover.

Aside from the $10,000 I will need additional money for co-pays, medications, rent, food etc as well a possible caregiver for myself once I am out of the hospital.

I am seeking help from anyone out there who believes in helping someone who is loving, caring and dedicated to serving others. I have been helping people all my life and in my capacity as a Caregiver for the State of Oregon, I have dedicated my life to helping others. Now, I am the one in need of help. If you can find it in your heart to help me with this transplant and maintaining the care of my mother during the process, please donate.

My Oncologist is Dr. Cristie Moore of Providence Cancer Center located in St. Vincent’s Hospital in Beaverton and her contact number is [phone redacted] if anyone needs or wants to verify that I am for real and not some scammer.
