Stem cell transplant campaign

My daughter Sheila is a wonderful wife and mother who has dealt with multiple sclerosis since the birth of her son 16 years ago, and has had many turbulent times through her life. As a child she had chronic asthma while growing up in Great Britain, and then at age eight had meningitis. She is like the ever ready battery because she just keeps going and nothing is going to get her down! As a mother it was difficult to see her struggle and MS caused her to temporarily lose her eyesight. Walking and doing everyday chores was so hard for her but she trooped on, and coped with it all. Then thanksgiving morning 2016 was a morning we will never forget! Sheila woke up and was racked with pain and couldn't move. I remember how scared and horrified her and her husband were when she fell to the ground like a rag doll after trying to get out of bed. The pain was excruciating! She couldn't move at all. The ER doctors and spine specialists were treating her for an MS relapse with infusions of steroids. After two weeks in the hospital and several trips to different doctors she was finally diagnosed with fractures on her spine. It seemed to take forever for someone to listen to her and see how much pain she was in. Then her neurologist did another MRI and suggested her going straight into the ER and said "don't take no for an answer" he saw that something was wrong. Two months had gone by and she was finally diagnosed with a debilitating cancer called Multiple Myeloma, bone cancer. Sheila had lost 3 inches of height in two months, fractures to her spine, ribs and almost caused her to lose her life due to kidney and organ failure. Sheila is a strong, unbelievable mother, and has always been like a dog with a bone. If you tell her no, she will find a way. As a child she drove me nuts but as an adult she is strong, caring and just the best person who will do anything to help, especially for her teenage autistic son. She is currently going through chemo once a week and has had 18 treatments. Chemo is toxic and can damage organs so she is now ready for the second phase which is Stem Cell Transplant. Unfortunately this second phase is costly and means that we have to turn to friends, family, and the people who care about each other. So we wait, and pray that we will have the means to save my daughter before too long
