Ever worry about being kidnapped? Ken & Angel did

Donation protected
Ken and Angel (ages 13 and 12) were unable to attend school for four years, now these new Vancouverites need laptops, bicycles and school supplies for their September school start!

What if your kids couldn’t go to school for fear of being kidnapped? We take it for granted that walking or busing to school is an easy matter. Not so in war-torn Cameroon. Angel and Ken  could not safely go outside for many years let alone go to school. They lived with their aunt while their mother Stella came to Canada in the hopes of providing a future for the kids.  She thought she would be reunited with her children in two years but various circumstances intervened and the process kept being delayed. Never did she imagine it would take six long years before she would see her children again!

Now, finally the children are here! Those six years were painful for everyone. The kids are behind in their education, they are coping with a new culture, a new society, a new integration with their mother and they are missing their aunt greatly. We need to do whatever we can to help these very special children.

Our goal is to raise sufficient funds to: 1) purchase laptop computers for both children. Ken is entering high school (Gr. 8) and Angel, Gr. 7. Much of their school work will be done on computers and some even on-line depending on COVID protocols for the Fall Term; 2) Mom, Stella, has had her working hours cut due to COVID and also needs a laptop, as well as computer training, in order to further her career; 3) The children each require a desk and chair so that they can do their schoolwork. 4) Three bicycles and helmets would assist the family greatly in getting to and from school and work as the family has no car.

They are still struggling to find a permanent housing situation. Any leftover funds will go towards securing appropriate housing. Please help this family move towards a secure and settled life in Canada.

When we think about how blessed we are, even through these difficult times, we know we can reach out and help others. Stella is an incredibly faithful, strong and hardworking woman. If you knew the sacrifices she has made for her children, you would be truly humbled.

We want to take one burden off her shoulders and make sure her children have a chance at the bright education and future she has long aspired for them.

Together we can help make that happen.
