Stella and Joey Mustain

UPDATE: This GFM was private until 8/9. Stella and Joey are now cleared to bear weight on their hurt legs. They are healing right on schedule. We praise God for that! We chose to share this page after unexpected new developments and challenges arose regarding the accident. We will gladly share those details one day. In fact, we’re genuinely eager to share the whole story with anyone who asks one day. For now, though, we’re just not able or at liberty to talk about it. Please join us in praying our family through to the day when we feel led and released to freely discuss it.

The support this GFM provided initially has been so, so helpful, and we praise God for those who participated, not only through the GFM page, but in so many other ways, too. It was and is so humbling to know how many people rushed to our sides to help through this page and through cards, visits, prayers, gift cards, meals, calls, and so many other ways.

Unfortunately, we just had no clue about how much the still mounting costs would be. There are so many bills between the hospital stays, the ambulance, the helicopter, the surgeons, the anesthesia, the physical therapy, the doctor visits, the equipment, and medication. It’s overwhelming.

I don’t know exactly why it’s so difficult to ask for help, but it is. For those who can help via this GFM page, we thank you in advance. For those who can’t, we still thank you in advance for considering. For all of you, we’re asking God for healing, complete deliverance, wisdom, and peace. We’d be honored to know that you’d join us in asking God for those same things for us.

Thank you, and we love you!

Below is the original text from when this GFM page initially launched.

———————

On June 12th, Stella and Joey were in a serious, head-on collision. Stella was flown to Vanderbilt, and Joey went by ambulance. Stella has a broken leg, a slight muscle tear, and lung bruising. Joey has a broken tibia, fibula, and ankle. He also has some broken ribs. They both had surgery on Saturday 6/13 and were at Vanderbilt for 3 nights. They’re home recovering now and will be fine, thank God. They have physical therapy at home, and will be able to bear weight on the broken limbs in 6-12 weeks.

So much is yet to be determined about the financial fallout. Insurances are likely to cover so much, but the incredibly high costs of the things they needed make it so that even if the out of pocket expense is small in terms of percentage, the actual dollar amount will be excessive.

They’d never ask for money, but due to the massive amount of requests from their friends and acquaintances, we’re starting this page to allow others to bless them by helping minimize the financial impact this accident will have on them.

We have zero clue what they’ll need. Maybe $2.5k, maybe $5k, maybe $10k, no clue. We’re just throwing out a number to establish the campaign.

Thank you so much for giving. And even if you can’t give, thank you for your prayers.
