Stay True, An LGBTQ+ Theatre Company is excited to announce our second fully staged production, Jonathan Harvey's Beautiful Thing. The production will be directed by Jenn Susi.
Shy Jamie and athletic Ste are teen boys who live near each other in the London projects. Both think they could be gay, and finally explore their feelings when Ste is allowed to stay over at Jamie's place after an incident with his abusive father. There, the boys grow close and open themselves up to the idea of homosexuality, while Jamie's caring mother, Sandra and quirky teen neighbor, Leah offer much needed emotional support.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have postponed our live production until further notice. We need your assistance in producing this wonderful show that has not been on stage in NYC since 1999! All money raised will go towards the rental of our performance space, rehearsal space, costumes, set, and payment for everyone involved.
While we wait to produce a fully staged version, a benefit virtual reading of Beautiful Thing will take place on Thursday, August 6th, 2020 at 7:30 PM via YouTube Live.

Additionally, you will receive a discount on your ticket purchase for the future live production of Beautiful Thing. All proceeds from this virtual reading will benefit Stay True’s upcoming live production of Beautiful Thing.

Stay True was founded in Summer 2019 in honor of World Pride by Andrew Victor Myers & Morgan Bartholick. Stay True is a new professional theatre company, based in New York City. Their debut production, Adam & Brian in November 2019 was self-funded/produced.
At Stay True Theatre Company, we pride ourselves on creating, producing, and performing pieces of theatre by, for, and with the LGBTQ+ community. We believe in staying true to who we are and expressing that through the arts opens the doors to understanding, acceptance, and community.
