In 1875, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, plans were made for the construction of what would become an everlasting symbol of Liberty and Freedom to Immigrants and Americans for many Generations.
Most people know that the Statue of Liberty was a gift from France, shipped here in pieces and assembled on Liberty island In New York where it still stands proudly today but few people realize that this monument was one of the first crowdfunded projects in the history of the United States of America.
From it's inception by way of newspaper campaigns and word of mouth, funds were raised to see the Statue of Liberty to its completion.
This was over 125 years ago. Our world and our country have changed drastically since then. Today many would say that we live in a country that is divided and one which has lost its way.
It's time for US to find our way again and I propose we do that by assembling new monuments to Inspire and Unify our country, once more.
The Statue of Unity and the Statue of Destiny would be a testament to our ability to work together and a symbol that there are still many great things that this nation can do. The planning and assembly of this Statue would be carried out in stages, just like the Statue of Liberty. It is would require hands and minds from all over the Nation for this project to come to fruition.
The Statue of Unity: Proposed Location; Kansas, in the Center of our Nation
The Statue of Destiny: Proposed Location; Southern California, at a location along the coast, looking out to the Pacific.
The Statues would be female in form in the Neoclassical style to match the style of the Statue of Liberty, creating a cohesive design theme for all 3 Statues.
Stage 1: Planning the Design of the Statues of Unity and Destiny. A newly formed committee would be accept bids from designers. The designs would be narrowed down to a few Finalists and ideally the Nation would be able to vote somehow on the Final Design for the Statues.
Stage 2: Planning the exact locations of the Statues of Unity and Destiny.
Stage 3: Construction of the Statues
These 3 Statues, 3 Sisters, would represent some of the core principles that our Nation was built on.
This is a HUGE undertaking and will not work without support from a large part of the Nation. Its success or failure lies in our hands and our ability to be positive and take control of our future to pave the way for our continued greatness.
This is a large project that will require a great deal of planning, funding and cooperation on a grand scale, in order for it to succeed. In the event that this campaign does not meet funding goals, Statues will still be built with the raised funds. It will be much less grand than the original idea but no less important as a symbol for the continued success and progress of this Nation.
