Stationary Bike for Rancho de los Niños

Donation protected
Hi there! This summer I have the privilege to return to Mazatlan, Mexico as a summer intern with Back2Back Ministries. I am so excited for this opportunity and to strengthen relationships that began in Mazatlan last May. One of the homes that Back2Back partners with is Rancho de los Niños. Rancho de los Niños is a home for individuals with physical and/or mental disabilities. I was blessed to work alongside caretakers, special education teachers, and the incredible individuals here last summer. This place holds such a special piece of my heart and has really confirmed my decision to study Occupational Therapy.

Even more exciting news is that Back2Back has just recently started the project of building a resource center for the community of Mazatlan. Here, individuals from all over will be able to receive counseling, parenting classes, physical therapy, and so much more! However, they still need help funding this project. A specific need that they have is for a stationary bike. Michelle Erwin, a physical therapist who works with Back2Back, has explained how the bike would be used at Rancho and the Community Resource Center.

The bike would be used in about 3 different ways:
1. The kids at Rancho and the kids who will come from other places to the resource center all need forms of exercise for their general health and wellbeing. A bike would be a safe and accessible way for them to get exercise.
2. We will also use the bike for PT to help with strength, coordination, and leg mobility with kids with disabilities or injuries.
3. The gym area where the bike will be will be intentionally set up as a place to build relationships. It can be used by families who need to bond as they're being reunified, and by disciplers/mentors who want to pour into the kids' lives. Exercise is a great context to build these relationships.

If you feel called to donate to this incredible cause I would be so appreciative. I would be so happy to talk with you more about what Back2Back is and what it means to me! It is my goal that this bike would be fully funded by the time I leave for Mexico, which is May 24th. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I am so appreciative of your support!

With love,
Sarah
