State Trooper Matthew Ezell’s Medical Bills

Donation protected
Hey Everyone, I’m Krystina. I have been friends with Christine since elementary school. I copied and pasted a Facebook post below made by Christine’s sister a couple days ago, but it explains the extent of Matthew’s injuries. Short story is he hit loose gravel on 903 and had to be medflighted to MCV with some pretty serious injuries.

I am currently taking care of their home and helping out with the animals along with other friends and family. To add to Christine’s sisters post below, Matthew’s neck is broken as well. They believe the fractures happened during the accident and it took them a few days to actually break. This is part of the reason he is still in ICU being so closely monitored. They feared other injuries would surface as the days went on. Matthew’s shoulder surgery is scheduled for Tuesday and he will most likely be in the hospital for another week after that. Christine, rightfully so, does not want to leave his side. This means she will he missing two weeks of pay, as well as another two to three weeks to get him home and settled. I wanted to set this up to help release the burden of the extra expenses they are going to be faced with as well as her lost wages from both her construction job and her photography business. Please help and support them any way you can. If you can’t donate, please share. If you live in close proximity, sign up for the meal train that will be started once they’re released. Christine is worried about the house and having to take care of the kids and Matthew when he returns home. For the first month home, he will need round the clock care and that’s a lot for one person to take on, as well as the house and children. Please just help with what you can.

Jessica Zubrod Wright’s post:
“I have been asked by Christine to update everyone on the situation with Matthew. Please understand that she isn’t able to respond to any messages right now. I will also need to go to bed soon so I will not be able to answer any additional questions tonight. I will update tomorrow when I know more. This is overwhelming for all of us, especially Christine.

Matthew wrecked the motorcycle on 903 today in Bracey between the storage units and Blackridge Road. It appears he went down with the motorcycle and then the motorcycle slid away from him as he continued to roll in the road. He was med-flighted to MCV shortly after. He was responsive and in a lot of pain. Since then, he has been diagnosed with the following: broken shoulder, broken humerus, trigemini (irregular heart rhythm), three fractured thoracic vertebrae, two brain bleeds (which they believe have stopped), and a fractured artery. Right now the only operation they are talking about is one for his humerus. He will be in the hospital for at least a week to two weeks.

The biggest concern is the fractured artery throwing a clot. He can’t be on blood thinners until the brain bleeds are out of the way. Please pray this doesn’t happen as it would open up a whole new set of issues.

Matthew is going to have a long road ahead. Please pray for continued healing and for strength for both Matthew and Christine along this road.

I know I’m just the sister-in-law in this situation, but I’ll tell you this- I wouldn’t want anyone to be on the other end of the phone call I got from my sister while at work today. Hug your loved ones. Tell them you love them. We aren’t promised tomorrow. We were all rocked to our core with the reality of that today.

Please, please pray. Thank you all. ❤️”
