Permakultur Projekt in Nordindien

Mein Name ist Jaspal und ich komme aus Indien. Ich bin von Beruf Psychologin und habe mit verschiedenen NGOs zusammengearbeitet. Jetzt bin ich ein Vollzeit-Bäuerin in Kurukshetra, Haryana, Nordindien. Mithilfe meines Freundes Yoan sammle ich Geld für die Anfangsfinanzierung meines Permakultur Projekts.

Die jahrzehntelange Bewirtschaftung mit Monokulturen hat die indische Landwirtschaft massiv erschöpft und führt vielerorts zu ökologischen und sozialen Krisen. Landwirtschaft ist ohne die Hilfe von Pestiziden und die umfassende Nutzung von Grundwasser, welches immer weniger wird, nicht möglich. Die natürliche Fruchtbarkeit der Böden wurde zerstört und die oberste Bodenschicht ist vollständig ausgelaugt. Durch Monokulturen gibt es keine Bäume mehr. Die Biodiversität ist stark beeinträchtigt und es gibt nur noch wenige Vogelarten.

Ich habe mit Hilfe meiner Freunde und meiner Familie ein Stück Land von ca. 15.000 qm erworben. Ich möchte auf diesem Land ein Pilotprojekt starten und es zu einer nachhaltigen selbsttragenden Farm machen. Die Technik wäre, Permakultur zu betreiben, den Boden zu bearbeiten, Pflanzen und Bäume anzubauen und mit der entstehenden Biomasse die Fruchtbarkeit zu erhöhen.

Später werde ich anfangen, anderen Landwirten beizubringen, diese Technik zu lernen, und sie dazu ermutigen, biologische Landwirtschaft zu betreiben. Sie können mit gemischter Landwirtschaft beginnen, indem sie Obst- und andere Bäume anpflanzen und auf einem Teil des Ackerlandes Bio-Gemüse, saisonale Hirse und Getreide anbauen. Dies macht sie unabhängiger von großen Firmen und stärkt die lokalen Strukturen.

Außerdem möchte ich gerne Kurse für Kinder anbieten, um Ihnen beizubringen wie Gemüse und Obst angebaut wird.

Ich habe vor ein einfaches Haus zu errichten, was später auch als Begegnungsstätte und für Gäste zur Verfügung stehen wird.

In der Anfangsphase muss ich ca. 6000 -7000 Euro investieren. Das Geld wird benötigt um das Gebiet einzuzäunen, Regenwasserspeicher zu bauen, sowie Pflanzen und Bäume (alte Sorten von regionalen Farmern) anzuschaffen. Dabei werde ich mich professionell beraten lassen von Permakulturexperten.

My name is Jaspal and I'm from India. I am a psychologist by profession and have worked with various NGOs. Now I am a full time farmer in Kurukshetra, Haryana. With the help of my friend Yoan I am raising money for the initial funding of my permaculture project.

Decades of cultivation with monocultures have massively exhausted Indian agriculture and are leading to ecological and social crises in many places. Agriculture is not possible without the help of pesticides and the extensive use of groundwater, which is becoming scarce. The natural fertility of the soil has been destroyed and the top layer of soil is completely depleted. Due to monocultures, there are no more trees left. Biodiversity is highly affected and there are few species of birds left.

With the help of my friends and family I have acquired 4 acres of land. I want to start a pilot project on this land and make it a sustainable self-sustaining farm. The technique would be to do Permaculture, start working on the soil, growing plants and trees, and using the resulting biomass to increase fertility.

Later I will start teaching other farmers to learn this technique to go organic. I will encourage them to start doing mixed farming by including fruit trees and other trees and growing organic vegetables, seasonal millets and grains on part of the farmland. This makes them less dependent on large companies and strengthens local structures.

I want to give courses for children classes to give them an basic understanding how vegetables and fruit are growing.

I am planning to build a simple house, which be available as a meeting place and for guests in future.

In the initial phase I have to invest about 6000-7000 euros. The money is needed to fence the area, build rainwater tanks, and buy plants and trees (old varieties from local farmers). I will get professional advice from permaculture experts.
