Start a new fight for migraine in Australia

Migraine is the most underfunded, underdiagnosed and undertreated condition in the world. It's the seventh most disabling condition in the world - a genetic, incurable one at that - and most people think migraine is nothing but a bad headache. And we are sick of it.

Before the 2019 Australian federal election, I, along with the support of others at the very pointy end of the migraine spectrum, rallied around a petition  to get a new preventative treatment called Aimovig  (made by Novartis) on the PBS.  We realised through that process that a more serious attack plan was needed, because the scale of the problem was enormous. 

So we formed a committee, and established Migraine Australia. 

Migraine Australia will work to support the lives and wellbeing of all Australians living with migraine and their families. 

Awareness of migraine is so low that unless someone lives with it, they don't get it. And they probably don't believe what people who do live with migraine are telling them. How does a headache cause paralysis, blindness or coma? 

The organisation we are building will need to be a big one to deal with the scale of the problem in front of us. From designing a migraine management plan, to running a national awareness campaign, to helping people get access to Disability Support Pension and access to the NDIS when they need it, and connecting and informing all Australians with migraine and their families, we have a lot to do.
