Starting a Mobile Classroom!

Meet Francois:
Francois arrived from a refugee camp in Tanzania 6 years ago. He spoke no English and had little formal schooling. Thanks to his hard work and a specialized program for newly arrived students, Francois graduated from high school in May 2019. The Teaching and Learning Collaborative, Inc. is a non-profit dedicated to serving students like Francois and supporting teachers who are prepared to provide the high-quality, innovative education that students like Francois need and deserve.
We are opening Inspired Roots Independent School (IRIS) . The school primarily serves low-income newcomers (recently arrived refugees and immigrants). We need a mobile classroom/school bus so we can transport our students to and from school, and also bring them to learning opportunities throughout the community. With the help of engineering students from UC San Diego and community artists and designers, we have the plans and vision to create a unique vehicle that serves both transportation and learning functions. With your help, we will turn the plan and vision into an amazing classroom on wheels.
