Start Up Funds for Cardinal Street Medicine

Cardinal Street Medicine is a student run initiative at the University of Louisville School of Medicine that is dedicated to providing Primary Care to people in metro Louisville that are experiencing homelessness. Our mission is to establish the first Street Medicine Program in the state of Kentucky. We are seeking funds to help buy uniform shirts for our medical team, medical bags, and the supplies that we can not obtain consistently from our partners. In addition to empowering individuals in our community to maintain their health, we also seek to educate future and current physicians on culturally competent care of people that are experiencing housing insecurity.
We spent the 2019/2020 academic year planning the educational aspect of our program, developing standards for how our outreach will work, and getting approval from the School of Medicine. We are currently working towards our next goal, which includes training our first medical teams and sending them out into the field by Spring of 2021.
