Start up for Peaceful Nests

My name is Jada Lee Nyankson-Ellis. A difficult home life of abuse led to the Bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare (BMCW) intervening in 2004, and spent the next year being moved between four group and foster homes. It was out of this difficult life experience that the passion to serve youth who have faced the same life ordeals was conceived. I understand that restoration and healing for these adolescent youth does not happen overnight and it has been my commitment as a frontline worker to serve troubled teens who are all miracles waiting to happen. My biggest challenge to getting Peaceful Nest Group Homes into operation is the lack of funding and resources for start up. The state of Wisconsin requires that I have 3 months of operation funds  available in order for me to be licensed to serve these precious youth. Peaceful Nest start up has been a true walk of faith for me but because I know that I have God's affirmation and I hear His strong call each and everyday to give my all to these youth, I press everyday. What I am most proud of about Peaceful Nest Group Homes is the fact that I am willing to be vulnerable and allow my life story to bring healing to youth who are experiencing what I experienced. This continues to bring me healing every day.  I am also grateful to God for sending people like you who would come along side me to partner with you prayers and resources to make this dream a reality...so that I may serve these youth with dignity and respect.
