Stan and his family suffer daily as he endures the setbacks and pain associated with kidney failure, dialysis, and the agony of waiting to be medically cleared for a kidney transplant.
Once the primary income earner for his family, he can no longer work as he did to support them. A few short months before his kidneys failed, Stan and his family moved to Bennington, Nebraska so he could be closer to work. The family's excitement of having more living space at home was dampened shortly after settling in when Stan began facing more frequent hospitalizations and missed work days.
Liz, his wife, bravely faces each day as she transitions from wife and mother to nurse, social worker, respiratory therapist, care manager, and more.
Family and finances are two of the greatest stressors facing patients undergoing treatment for chronic, life-limiting illnesses. When these stressors are alleviated, Stan and his family will be able to focus on his health and recovery.
