Stanley's Fight

“Stanley’s Fight”  Stanley Paul Crume   Born: December 29th, 2016

Baby Stanley came into the world 5 weeks early via an emergency c-section on December 29th.  He suffered a devastating event known as HIE (hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy).  HIE is a loss of oxygen and blood flow to the brain. HIE most commonly occurs during birth, Stanley’s was caused by a True Umbilical Knot.  Instead of spending his first days going home with his family, he had to spend those in NICU with a medical procedure to calm and cool his brain to try in hopes of reducing damage caused by the HIE.  He still remains in NICU in a hospital in Idaho.

Currently his family is scheduling surgery for a tracheostomy to assist in his breathing, and to receive a gastrostomy tube to allow feeding, at a larger hospital more than 250 miles from their home.    As Stanley continues to fight, his parents are fighting a battle of their own. Watching their child experience something no parent should ever have to go through, they also face a long road of financial expenses; hospital and medical bills, treatment for seizures, therapy, traveling, accommodation, equipment needed for his daily comfort, etc.

We are raising money to make sure Stanley gets all of the support he requires, and to make sure his parents get the financial help they need as

they start on this challenging journey. There are many effects that HIE can cause, and since he is just a few weeks old the full extent of those, we don’t know yet, however the prognosis is not favorable.  With the love of his mother, father, sister and 2 older brothers, they are determined to help him defy odds.
