Stanley's Emergency Splenectomy

Sunday, 14 January I ran Stan to the emergency vet (hoping I was overreacting) because he was pretty lethargic and hadn't eaten dinner the night before. They took him back and within minutes I was given pretty horrible news about my sweet fur boys health. The vet came in and told me that Stan had a ruptured mass in his stomach and was bleeding internally. She was very straight forward regarding prognosis. She could not see any other nodules at the time but couldn't tell where the rupture had happened. I was told that if the tumor was on the liver Stan would need to be euthanized but if the rupture was on his spleen they could remove it and send for pathology. I felt like i owed it to him to try so the emergency surgery was the route we took. I went home and received a call several hours later from the vet that performed his surgery. The rupture had been on the spleen and 2 liters of blood was removed from his belly and transfused back. This was the best news
I could have received at the time. He remained in the hospital until Tuesday under observation. He's now home fighting to get his red blood cell count up and remains very weak. It was at 19 Sunday and has remained at 18 since surgery. The typical red blood cell count in a pup is anywhere from 36 -50 so he's pretty low. I've been preparing myself this week for a cancer diagnosis but hoping that this tumor will have been benign. I should know soon and will keep anyone interested in his story updated. Stan has been a therapy dog with Pets on Wheels for four years now. He's traveled with me to nursing/ assisted living homes, schools, hospitals, and the V.A in Perryville spreading smiles everywhere he's gone. He's a very friendly dog with so much love left to give. This of course was a pretty hefty financial burden all at once on my end and if the prognosis is cancer I can only imagine what I'll be spending to ensure he is happy and comfortable until the day he crosses over the rainbow bridge. Any help paying off his emergency surgery and follow up ultrasounds would be greatly appreciated.
