Stanley needs surgery

A couple of weeks ago I was awakened by Stanley struggling to catch his breath. It took him several minutes to actually start breathing normally again and it scared the bejeezus out of me.
Today he was diagnosed with laryngeal paralysis , a disorder in which the nerves that control the muscles and cartilage that open and close the larynx (voicebox) do not function properly, causing voice changes and difficulty with eating or breathing. Stanley has definitely had difficulty breathing normally and it is particularly dangerous if he becomes distressed as he did that morning.
Surgery is scheduled for next week and it was definitely more than I anticipated. I know he's my old man (12 years old!), but I want him to be as comfortable as possible in his golden years. Please donate any amount you can. Every bit helps!
