I couldn’t help noticing that Joanie was, in fact, getting skinnier and weaker. I also noticed that Stanley was totally devoted to Joanie and did everything he could to help her and encourage her to eat. Unfortunately, the disease ultimately killed Joanie after multiple hospitalizations for severe malnutrition.
I recently learned from Stanley that because of medical expenses and the fact that he had been devoting virtually all of his time over the past few years to caring for Joanie, they had no savings, he had not had time to keep his marketing communications business going, and Joanie’s pensions from her career as an educator were going to stop. In addition, they had accumulated a significant amount of debt.
Stanley is now in the position of having to sell their house and all of their possessions, move into an apartment, and rebuild his business. Since he has no money left, he needs a GoFundMe grant to provide the bridge money he needs to restart his life and his business.
