#StandWithUkraine - Romanian NGOs

Donation protected
The Russian invasion of Ukraine has produced a severe refugee crisis in neighboring countries. While I'm a sophomore at Stony Brook University, my family is stationed at the United States Embassy in Bucharest, Romania. The embassy is partnering with the American International School of Bucharest (AISB) to allocate, transport, and disburse donations and resources to refugees coming into Romania via non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

I intend to travel to Romania for my Spring Break and volunteer in the allocation and disbursement of supplies & resources. I leave Thursday, March 10th, and I plan on both bringing donations with me as well as purchasing resources for donation during my stay. These donations will include, but are not limited to:

  • Non-perishable food; powdered milk for babies; drinking water
  • Diapers, menstrual pads, masks, wet wipes
  • Shower gel, liquid soap, hand sanitizer, toothpaste, toothbrushes, hairbrushes, deodorants
  • New basic clothing items: socks, gloves, hats, scarves, raincoats
  • Towels, blankets, pillows (if not new, very good condition)
  • Laundry detergent, dishwashing soap, dishwashing sponges, toilet paper, paper towels
  • Over-the-counter (OTC) basic medications: pain killers, cold medication, etc.

Donations will also be packaged according to specific age groups (baby, toddler, young child, etc.). Details for specific items per package can be found at the following link:

All donations raised will be distributed to the following nonprofit organizations:

Asociatia Ecumenia a Bisericilor din Romania (AIDROM) - https://www.facebook.com/AIDRom-883889831718569/

Hope and Homes for Children Romania - https://www.facebook.com/hopeandhomesromania

I plan to be in Romania from March 10th until March 18th, so any donations between now and the 18th will be greatly appreciated. If you are local and would like to provide direct resources, please contact me via email (provided below) prior to my departure. You can also contact me with any questions or concerns regarding this matter.
