<div>Our family’s world changed suddenly this week.

<div>My wife experienced 8 severe seizures back to back, and they became so serious that they began affecting her lungs. She had to be placed on a ventilator in the ICU to help her breathe. Watching someone you love fight for every breath is something no family is ever prepared for.
</div>
<div>She spent days in ICU, including time on a ventilator. Waking up confused, scared, and unable to speak because of the breathing tube was one of the hardest moments she has ever experienced. Thankfully, she is now off the ventilator and out of ICU, but her body is exhausted and recovery will take time.
</div>
<div>Epilepsy is more than just “having seizures.” It can be unpredictable and life-threatening. This medical emergency has brought unexpected hospital bills, time away from work, and ongoing medical needs as she continues treatment and monitoring.
</div>
