Standing with Steve

Steve Kafkas was diagnosed with cancer over twelve years ago.  He is an exceptional human, son, brother, friend,an awesome uncle, rockstar 5th grade teacher and just so happened to get his PhD a year ago. He has been fighting metastatic rectal cancer for a decade now, teaching the entire time.  For the first time, the side effects from essentially permanent treatment forced him to make the hard choice to take a leave of absence from teaching for this school year. This has resulted in a 60% reduction in his salary which, on its own, would be enough of a hardship.  Those same side effects have also had isolating physical, psychological and emotional effects. We want to raise funds so that Steve is free to make the best choices for his health and provide him the freedom to live his exceptional life to its fullest. We can't fight the cancer for him or take treatment for him but we can help remove the stress about rent and car payments and give him the freedom to spend time with friends and family and the three awesome small humans who holler "UNCLE STEVE!!!" every time they see him.
