<div>“Eric has been diagnosed with advanced metastatic prostate cancer. In others terms prostate cancer that has moved on and is in his bones. Over the summer he started to deal with some back pain which he thought was work related as he does alot of lifting. It then moved into his hips and was not getting better. After some appointments with his doctor and lab work, it was discovered that his PSA level was through the roof. More tests were ordered, including an x-ray and MRI. Here they discovered that he had a small tear in his hip joint and they saw metastatic cells on his hip bones. This prompted a mid October appointment at Mayo in Rochester for a more detailed MRI and a biopsy. Those results let us know that on a scale of 1-10, 10 being most aggressive, for aggressiveness for the cancer cells he is at a 9.

<div>The end of October, we met with an oncologist at MN Oncology, in Maplewood and had a PETscan to see how far it has spread. Those results let us know that the cancer has spread into his femurs, all the way up his spine, in his ribs, shoulder blades, as well as the base of his skull! WOW!!! READY TO KICK CANCER OUT THE DOOR AND DOWN A HOLE!!!

<div>He started hormone therapy by pills and chemotherapy started November 11th. He will have 6-8 chemo treatments, 1 every 3 weeks. The first chemo treatment lead to a bit of a reaction 7 minutes in. They stopped the chemo, treated him with benadryl, and then after about 30 minutes started it back up. The rest of treatment that day went well. They said this is very normal. December 2nd, he had his second treatment. They started off with some benadryl in hopes that there would not be another reaction. However, he ended up with a reaction 5 minutes in and it was a little bit worse than the first time. They gave hime some extra allerggy meds and restarted with no problems for the rest of treatment. They have also added 2 other treatments to help with the metastisized cancer in his bones. Hoping that it will help his bones hold on to the calcium and stop the cancer from spreading more. His labs yesterday DID show that after his first treatment in November, his PSA level has dropped significantly! YAY!!! Chemo is kicking the prostate cancer!!

<div>Please continue to hold Eric and all of us in your prayers. It stinks to say, "Well, this isn't our first rodeo and we know how to FIGHT!!!!" But that my friends is a true story! As many of you know Garret has been fighting since he was 3, he continues to fight with oral chemo and is doing well. We also help my sister Martha fight this beast!! We will keep you all posted as we continue with treatments and tests! Thanks for the constant love and support! We are forever grateful for every single one of you. We continue to be thankful for all we have and the life we are able to live! Enjoy this upcoming holiday season, and hold your family and friends close!”
