<div>To support the Museo de Arte Popular (MAP) in carrying out the 16th Edition of the Monumental Alebrijes Parade and to ensure it remains an iconic event in Mexico City.

</div>
<div>The campaign starts on September 2nd and will last 7 weeks. The Monumental Alebrijes Parade is on October 19, 2024.

</div>
<div>We need your help! Our goal is to raise $1’000,000 MXN (one million pesos) to ensure the Monumental Alebrijes Parade continues to light up our streets. Together, we can keep this dream alive and continue celebrating our culture. All funds will be exclusively allocated to parade expenses, guaranteeing transparency and commitment to our cause.

<div>Since 2007, the Museo de Arte Popular (MAP) has organized and funded this event so that our artisans, their families, collectives, schools, and institutions can parade their alebrijes, filling the streets in Mexico City with color and tradition, showcasing Mexican folk art.

<div><strong>What is the Monumental Alebrijes Parade? </strong>
</div>
<div>The Monumental Alebrijes Parade is a contest where participants register an alebrije, which can range from 30 centimeters to four meters in height, and they parade alongside it. After the parade, the alebrijes are displayed for two weeks on Paseo de la Reforma while a jury decides who the winners are. Finally, the awards ceremony takes place at the Museo de Arte Popular, where the top prizes and honorable mentions are announced. These prizes not only recognize talent but also provide financial support to the artisans and their families, helping them continue their wonderful work.

<div><strong>Where do alebrijes come from? </strong>
</div>
<div>In the 1930s, a high fever plunged Pedro Linares into a vivid dream populated by fantastic creatures—combinations of different animals from whose mouths the word "alebrije, alebrije!" echoed. Upon awakening, Linares decided to immortalize these beings using his skill in papier-mâché. Over time, his creations caught the public's attention and became very popular.

<div>Alebrijes have captivated thousands and have become a symbol of Mexican culture, making their preservation incredibly important. Over the years, the Monumental Alebrijes’ Parade has become an icon of Mexico City, drawing more than 500,000 spectators and approximately 250 participating alebrijes in each edition.

<div>The Asociación de Amigos del MAP , A.C. (AmigosMAP) was established in 1999 as a formal and permanent institution dedicated to the dissemination, promotion, and protection of Mexican folk art.

<div>Es una campaña de recaudación de fondos para que personas como tú, que valoran las tradiciones y quieren verlas crecer, puedan hacer una donación y ayuden a lograr que esta celebración continúe iluminando nuestra ciudad y nuestros corazones.

<div><strong>¿En qué consiste el Desfile de Alebrjes? </strong>
</div>
<div>El Desfile de Alebrijes Monumentales consiste en un concurso donde los interesados participan inscribiendo un alebrije que puede ir desde los 30 centímetros hasta los cuatro metros de altura y desfilan junto a él, al finalizar el desfile se exhiben dos semanas en Paseo de la Reforma mientras un jurado determina a los ganadores del concurso. Finalmente, la premiación toma lugar en el Museo de Arte Popular donde se dan a conocer los primeros lugares y menciones honoríficas. Estos premios no solo son un reconocimiento al talento, sino también un apoyo económico para los artesanos y sus familias. Los ayuda a continuar con su maravillosa labor.

<div><strong>¿De dónde vienen los alebrijes? </strong>
</div>
<div>En la década de 1930, una alta fiebre sumió a Pedro Linares en un sueño vívido poblado por criaturas fantásticas, eran mezclas de diferentes animales y de sus bocas se escuchaba la palabra ¡alebrije, alebrije!. Al despertar, Linares decidió inmortalizar a estos seres utilizando su habilidad en la cartonería. Con el tiempo, sus creaciones llamaron la atención del público y se volvieron muy populares.

<div>Los alebrijes han cautivado a miles y se han convertido en un símbolo de la cultura mexicana, por lo que es de suma importancia su preservación. A lo largo de los años, el Desfile de Alebrijes Monumentales se ha convertido en un ícono de la Ciudad de México el cual ha reunido a más de 500 mil espectadores y aproximadamente 250 alebrijes participantes en cada edición.
