For those who have been following and supporting the Sheely's circumstances, with Megan's passing the financial strain will continue to add up for Andrew. We're setting this up for those who would like to help him out that may not be able to attend her celebration of life. For those who are unaware of Megan's story, here it is. In her words.
“In January 2014, after having really bad pain in my knee i was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in my right femur. I was given 2 chemotherapy drugs, adriomycin and cisplastin, 2 rounds. Each round was given over 3 days and then 3 weeks in between each round. I then had surgery to remove the tumors, a radical resection of my right femur and total knees replacement. After surgery i went through 6 more rounds of Adria/cisplastin and intense physical therapy from April-November of 2014.
In August of 2014 i married Andrew after my last chemo treatment.
In July 2016, the pain came back but this time in my ribs. It was confirmed i had progressed to metastatic osteosarcoma. Typically that means it has spread to the lungs, but in my extremely rare case, it has spread to my bones. They gave me a 20% prognosis. I went through 6 MORE rounds of chemo, this time using ifex and epoptoside. I had to be admitted the the hospital for and entire week during every treatment. Treatments were supposed to be every 3 weeks but my body could only tolerate every 4 weeks. The first 2 rounds of these drugs put me in the ICU. My last treatment of that was March 2017. So here was are now, in February 2018 and it has progressed yet again. This time i am not qualified for chemo, due to the damage done to my kidneys by previous treatments. We are still working out treatment options, I’ve been traveling to New York. I have one professor who is looking into clinical trials in Texas for immune therapy.”
