<div>Our dad, Shannon Simpson, is one of the hardest working, most selfless people you could ever meet. A devoted husband to his high school sweetheart, Kim, for over 38 years, a proud father to three children, and a deeply loved “Poppy” to his grandkids — Shannon has always been the steady, caring center of our family.

<div>Recently, Shannon was diagnosed with an extremely rare cancer that infects the sweat glands in his face called Hidradenocarcinoma (description of the cancer is below). It’s the kind of diagnosis no one sees coming, and one that very few doctors even have experience treating. He’s already undergone a difficult surgery to remove lymph nodes on the affected side of his face, and now faces the next stage of his fight: six weeks of daily radiation treatment in Houston, over 500 miles from his home in Lubbock, Texas.

<div>This will mean weeks away from home, time off work, and major travel and lodging expenses on top of the ongoing medical bills. Anyone who knows Shannon knows how hard he’s worked all his life — as a fiber engineer, he’s built a career on perseverance, integrity, and an unmatched work ethic. He’s the kind of man who never asks for help, but who is always there when someone else needs it.

<div><em>Hidradenocarcinoma is a rare malignant neoplasm, originating from the eccrine sweat glands, and corresponding to 6% of the eccrine malignant tumors. It presents as a solitary, asymptomatic, slow-growing skin lesion, and may take an aggressive clinical course, with lymph node involvement and distant metastases.</em>
