Stand With Sam Wolcott In His Cancer Fight

Donation protected
Hey, my name is Rebecca, and I am creating this fundraiser to help my dad cover his medical expenses and catch up a couple house expenses as he continues his battle with a couple rare cancers.

Back in 2021 my dad went to the emergency room with severe swelling in the abdomen. We learned the swelling was caused by a severe GI bleed that had been caused by cancer we did not know he had. From there, he had to get an endoscopy, and a large tumor was discovered. Following that discovery, the doctors did a PET scan to see if anything else may be impacted, and sure enough, there was a spot found in his left lung. This spot was diagnosed as an adenocarcinoma, a second cancer diagnosis. At this point, the doctors let him know due to the rarity and severity of these cancers, he had less than a 5% chance of survival. Upon discovery of the glomus tumor, he had to have surgery to remove it and half of his stomach. Six short weeks after that, he had to undergo another major surgery to have the adenocarcinoma they discovered in his lung fully removed along with half of his left lung. Yet another mere six weeks after the lung and twelve weeks after the stomach, he started on his chemotherapy where he completed four rounds of treatment over the course of 21 weeks. Regardless of how major the surgeries, or how difficult it was for him to prevail and continue working, he made sure to work as much as possible to ensure the medical coverage and financial means to endure this intense battle.

21 months later, they found he had metastasis to the liver and the bowel due to the glomus tumor that he had removed in the beginning of his journey. Sadly, the metastasis was deemed as stage four. Over the course of 18 months, he tried eight more types of chemotherapy, unfortunately without success. The tumors continued to grow and metastasize. He ended up having intolerances and severe adverse reactions with a few of the medications and ultimately was told they had exhausted all available treatments. Due to the impact of both the therapies, and the course the cancers took on his overall health and well-being, around Thanksgiving last year (2024), he was told he could no longer work and care for patients the way he has for upwards of 32 years. He was then told in the beginning of December 2024 that he only has three months left to live. He has been researching and working with alternative medicine with the aim to prolong his time here with us.

With that being said, we are filled with hope and faith he has more time and would love the opportunity to pay off the multitude of scans, bloodwork, testing, and hugely expensive chemotherapies he has accumulated throughout this battle. We are also hopeful for the opportunity to pay some house bills that got placed on hold when he had to stop working but continued to fight the good fight against these cancers. We greatly appreciate all contributions to assist in this matter!
