Stand with Otis Rooney in His Healing Journey
Donation protected
Hi,
My name is Lisa Tanguma, and I am raising funds for my friend Otis Rooney. If you know me and you know the old Otis, I would be the last person to be doing this for him. Otis was certainly a person I would not choose to be around. 10 years ago, Otis was a full-blown alcoholic, he was belligerent, and ready for a fight, whether physical or vocal.
Almost 3 years ago, Otis had a life-changing event. On the verge of suicide, Otis was checked into the hospital and spent 10 days there and then transferred to Pathfinders Recovery for 31 days.
Otis recognized that his 30 years of drinking needed to come to an end, or he would face ultimate death.
I honestly didn't believe that Otis would ever change, but I was wrong. The young man did the work and reached out to me to make amends. With our tumultuous past, I hesitantly agreed to work on our friendship, and although Otis still has many things he is working on, I can honestly and proudly say that he truly is a changed man / SOBER!
This year in January, Otis started feeling unwell and it progressively became worse. After watching his health dramatically decline, I strongly urged Otis to go to the ER. Long story short, Otis found out he had to have an invasive and life-saving surgery in order to save his life.
Otis's surgery resulted in a 10-day hospital stay. His incision starts at his sternum and ends at his pubic bone.
Although Otis made it through his surgery, that was just the beginning. He was ordered not to lift anything over 5 lbs. for 30+ days. His surgery left him unable to work for 3 months of which he has had no income. He is on the mend but can only work very small painting jobs (as an Independent Contractor in painting for the last 11 years) and it takes him longer to finish them.
As long as I've known Otis, the one thing I can tell you, is that he has never been afraid to work hard. His skill as a painter is extraordinary.
I am starting this Fund Raiser to help Otis pay for bills that accrued over these past 7 months. Here is the plan.
1. Otis has many quality items for sale which he will be posting on his FB marketplace.
2. Otis can do smaller painting jobs and is for hire IMMEDIATELY. Please contact him directly through his FB for details.
3. Otis has set up a with a national payment plan to help manage his bills so that he does not go into default until we take care of all of his debt.
I am asking you to make a donation towards helping my friend Otis Rooney. Even the smallest amount will help.
